Alaska

In the late 1800's John Muir came to Alaska and advised young people not to come to the Southeast region because they'd either have to stay or know that every other place they'd see for the rest of their lives would be a disappointment.

From Heather Lende's book "If You Lived Here,
 I'd Know Your Name".
